A suspended CISF constable was apprehended in Hyderabad for allegedly possessing and smuggling 158 kgs of dry ganja worth Rs 79 lakh. He reportedly misused his official ID to evade police checks and continued drug trafficking even after a previous arrest and suspension.
Some farmer outfits on Friday threw their weight behind the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) woman constable who allegedly slapped actor and Bharatiya Janata Party MP-elect Kangana Ranaut, saying the entire sequence leading to the incident needs to be properly investigated.
The CISF, tasked with providing security at airports, has also ordered a court of inquiry into the incident.
The West Bengal Crime Investigation Department (CID) has summoned six Central Industrial Security Force personnel who were on duty at booth number 126 in Jorpatki in Sitalkuchi assembly constituency where four persons were killed in a firing by the central forces personnel during voting, an official said.
The matter is being investigated, they said and added that so far, there is no evidence that the "Khalistani" slur was used.
Protests broke out in some states on Friday, including Delhi's Jama Masjid and stone-petling at policemen in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj and Saharanpur, over the controversial remarks on Prophet Muhammad by two now-suspended Bharatiya Janata Party functionaries with demonstrators in Jharkhand injuring a few policemen while authorities in Jammu imposed a curfew in few areas and parts of Kashmir observed a shutdown.
