Pakistan's social media celebrity Qandeel Baloch was killed allegedly by her brother in Multan in Punjab province, becoming the latest victim of "honour killings" that plague the country.
In a press conference, Khan admitted that he had drugged and strangled his sister as she had brought 'dishonour to the Baloch name' due to risqu videos and statements that she posted on social media, the Dawn reported.
The 26-year-old actor-cum-model was killed by Waseem, who has confessed to have administered a sedative to her before strangling her to death for the "honour of the family".
"I say he should be shot on sight! He suffocated my little one. We were drugged, asleep upstairs. She must have called out to us," Qandeel's father Anwar Azeem said.
Pakistani social media star Qandeel Baloch who was killed for bringing "shame" to the family by posting risque videos and posts on Facebook was strangled to death by her cousin and not by her brother, a polygraph test found on Saturday.
Homicide unit (in-charge) Inspector Ilyas Haider who was doing ground investigation into the murder case will be replaced by woman Inspector Attiya Jaffari.
The bill passed on Thursday ensures the killers will get a mandatory life sentence.
Waseem said he made the plan to kill Qandeel with the assistance of a relative, Haq Nawaz, who was present when he strangled his sister while another relative Basit waited outside the house in a car, police said.
