The high court had dismissed the PIL relying on the apex court's decision of August 18, 2020, which refused a plea by NGO CPIL for the CAG audit of PM-CARES Fund.
The Supreme Court on Monday said it will decide "once and for all" the legal issue of whether the earlier apex court judgment laying down procedures for the appointment of the director general of police (DGP) in states will also be applicable to Delhi and other cities.
Noting there have been instances of "excess" by police and paramilitary personnel against the migrant workers, the court also asked authorities to consider "withdrawal" of criminal cases against some of them for violating social distancing norms.
The court's direction came after Singh alleged conspiracy over filing of "frivolous anonymous complaints" against him with the revenue secretary saying these were being entertained by the ED.
