Two officers, including a deputy commissioner of police, were on Friday removed from field posting within 24 hours of a lathi-charge on Bajrang Dal activists staging an anti-drug mafia protest at a busy intersection in Indore.
Twelve persons died after the roof of a bawdi (well) collapsed during a havan, fire ritual, on the occasion of Ram Navami at a temple in Indore city, Madhya Pradesh, on Thursday, a senior official said.
Police said they have recovered objectionable literature and letters from their possession, which indicate they were involved in the activities of SIMI and were in contact with the arrested leaders. Police also found evidence from them relating to a meeting conducted by SIMI activists based in Delhi in Jabalpur sometime back with an intention to help their associates lodged in Jabalpur jail for carrying out the activities of the banned organisation, he said.

At least ten people were injured, three of them seriously, in the blast in the Bhopal-Ujjain passenger train near Jabdi station of Shajapur district in Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday.
