The Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected the bail plea of Manu Sharma, who was sentenced to life imprisonment in the Jessica Lal murder case by the Delhi High Court. A bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan, however, listed Sharma's appeal against his conviction for hearing on January 22, 2008.

The Delhi police on Tuesday described Shyan Munshi, the key eyewitness in the Jessica Lal murder case who had turned hostile, as a "liar" and told the Delhi high court that the trial court erred by relying on his statements.
