Gautam Adani, India's and Asia's second-richest person, added $49 billion to his wealth last year - more than the net addition of wealth by the top three global billionaires Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and Bernard Arnault, the 2022 M3M Hurun Global Rich List said on Wednesday. Mukesh Ambani, who runs the oil-to-retail conglomerate Reliance Industries, continues to be the richest Indian with a wealth of $103 billion, a 24 per cent rise year-on-year. Adani, the head of ports-to-energy conglomerate Adani Group, is a close second with his wealth surging 153 per cent to $81 billion.

India is ranked sixth in a list of countries affected by terrorism, with over 4,100 such incidents recorded in the past 34 years, according to an international database on terrorism.The 'Global Terrorism Database', maintained at the University of Maryland by the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism, said India was witness to 4,108 terrorist incidents between 1970 and 2004, in which 12,539 people have been killed.

India has overtaken the United States (US) to become the second-most sought-after manufacturing destination globally, driven mainly by cost competitiveness, according to real estate consultant Cushman & Wakefield. China remains at number one position, the consultant said in its 2021 Global Manufacturing Risk Index, which assessed the most advantageous locations for global manufacturing among 47 countries in Europe, the Americas and Asia-Pacific (APAC). "India takes the second spot after China as the most sought-after manufacturing destination globally," Cushman and Wakefield said in a statement. The US is at third position, followed by Canada, Czech Republic, Indonesia, Lithuania, Thailand, Malaysia and Poland. In last year's report, the US was at second position while India ranked third.
