Bodies of eight persons were found on Friday in a marsh on the riverbank near Akwesasne, a community which straddles Quebec, Ontario and New York state.
Six bodies were recovered by police Thursday afternoon in a marshy area of Quebec near an overturned boat during an aerial search with the Canadian Coast Guard., according to Canadian news outlets CBC and CTV.
Canadian police have named two of the eight people, including four Indians, whose bodies were found in a marshland area along the United States-Canada border, amid an investigation into the circumstances of their deaths.
Canadian Citizenship and Immigration Minister Jason Kenney has announced that Canada will start issuing 10-year visas.
"We know that the ability to speak English or French is a very, very strong predicator of success. If you come to this country and you are unable to speak one of the two official languages, you may starve. In fact, if you are coming into a profession, the level of language you have to have is that much higher to be able to succeed," says Doug Kellam, spokesperson, Citizenship and Immigration Canada.
Fed up with what they say is inaction by Citizenship and Immigration Canada and the Canada Border Services, about 74 people want to initiate a class action lawsuit against the government agencies. The applicants are Canadian citizens or permanent residents who say they 'are victims of immigration fraud marriages or relationship of convenience.'
