Haridwar Kotwali police station SHO Rakender Singh Kathait said on Wednesday, "We have sent notices of appearance to Rizvi and Sadhvi Annapurna so far. A notice may also be sent to Dharamdas who is the third one named in the FIR lodged in this connection."
The Haridwar Police have added the names of Hindu leaders Yeti Narasimhanand and Sagar Sindhuraj in an FIR in connection with the case of alleged hate speech.
The FIR has been lodged under Section 153A of the IPC (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language).
While Rizvi has been arrested, notices for appearance under Section 41 A of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) have been sent to Yati Narasimhanand and Sadhvi Annapurna, Uttarakhand Director General of Police Ashok Kumar told PTI.
The Supreme Court on Tuesday granted three months interim bail to Jitendra Narayan Singh Tyagi in connection with the Haridwar Dharma Sansad case involving alleged inflammatory speeches made against Muslims.
Narsinghanand was arrested in connection with the case on January 15, nearly a month after he organised a Dharma Sansad in Haridwar where alleged provocative speeches were delivered against Muslims.
Narsinghanand's release follows bail granted to him on Tuesday by a local court in a case slapped on him under Section 509 of the Indian Penal Code for making objectionable remarks against women and abusing a journalist.
"You should ask people behind Dharma Sansad about this.... We talk about taking the entire society along," BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said, when asked about the matter at a press conference.
The Supreme Court on Thursday expressed concern over the holding of events like Dharam Sansad at various places, which allegedly is disturbing communal harmony.
Haridwar hate speech accused Jitendra Narayan Tyagi, who has been asked by the Supreme Court to surrender by September 2, said his life is in danger and he may be killed in a suicide attack.
