The Delhi high court on Friday rapped the city police for being "lax" while filing the chargesheet against underworld don Abu Salem under Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act when it was in "contravention" of the extradition agreement with Portugal.
The Supreme Court on Wednesday took exception to Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid's reported statement that putting businessmen behind bars will hamper investments in the country, saying if true it is "disturbing".
Appearing before a bench of justices B S Chauhan and J S Khehar, Additional Solicitor General Haren Rawal assured the court that the charge sheet will be filed in the lower court on Tuesday.
The apex court fixed Wednesday for further hearing on the matter.
