Plotters of the 2008 Ahmedabad serial bomb blasts had also planned to kill then-Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi besides creating mayhem, one of the accused convicted for the bombings by a special court in Ahmedabad had admitted before the court in the past, the prosecution said on Friday.
'A political party taking the law into its hands is objectionable, especially in the context of the 2002 incidents in Gujarat.'
A special court in Ahmedabad on Friday awarded death sentence to 38 convicts in the 2008 Ahmedabad serial blasts case, which had claimed 56 lives and left over 200 injured.
The chief investigating officer told the court that he had not found any material evidence to show who the political beneficiaries were.
