Glimpses from the campaign trail on Thursday, February 17, 2022.
Congress president Sonia Gandhi had on Tuesday asked its state unit chiefs in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa, Punjab and Manipur to put in their papers after the party's drubbing in the recently held Assembly polls in these states.
Sidhu in his affidavit, filed along with the nomination papers, declared total assets worth Rs 44.63 crore.
A few former MLAs, considered to be his loyalists and a few supporters, turned up at Sidhu's residence in Patiala Friday morning to extend moral support to him.
The game intensified after Congress fielded Channi from a second seat and Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia chose to take on Sidhu from the Amritsar East seat.
Sidhu's joining may come in the next few days which are considered auspicious.

"Indian National Congress welcomes S Navjot Singh Sidhu into the Congress family and we thank Congress vice president for his visionary approach in bringing together like-minded people on common platform under the Congress umbrella," Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said in a statement.
'The 10% increase in women voters was a determined bloc of voters.' 'They were willing to try this third party, specially because it seemed it had done something in Delhi.'
As the results pour in from the five states which have gone to polls, scenes of celebrations can be seen across the nation.
She said she would not resign from the assembly and continue to carry out development works in Amritsar East assembly constituency.
