At least six people were killed and three others injured when explosives kept in a truck went off in a coal mine in West Bengal's Birbhum district on Monday, a police officer said.
Officials in the power department said industrial demand (which accounts for 40 per cent of the state's power consumption) didn't rise last year, contributing to surplus power.
