Ceasefire violations by Pakistan Rangers continued on Thursday with 60 Indian border outposts and over 80 villages coming under mortar shelling and firing in Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts along the International Border.
Following an infiltration bid on Saturday morning and ceasefire violations over the last 24 hours, the Border Security Force has lodged a strong protest with Pakistan Rangers over the incidents along the International Border in Jammu
Troops of Pakistan opened fire at Army posts and civilian areas in Poonch district on the Line of Control with automatic weapons and rockets for the fourth day in row on Wednesday prompting army to return fire.
"Pakistan is committed to the decisions agreed at Ufa between the prime ministers," foreign office spokesperson Qazi Khalilullah said.
Cores of houses and other structures along the IB in Jammu district are riddled with ammunition from across the border.
The Pakistan army troops on Thursday pounded civilian areas along the Line of Control by violating ceasefire for the ninth time in four days resulting in injuries to four people, prompting retaliation from Indian troops.
Pakistan Rangers, the border force of Pakistan, resorted to sniper attacks at Indian posts at Hira Nagar in Kathua at around 9.35 am.
BSF chief K K Sharma said Pakistani forces are deliberately trying to "create a flash point" to facilitate infiltration of terrorists into India and asserted that these designs will be foiled.
Heavy mortar shelling and firing by Pakistani troops continued unabated along the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday killing two more people -- both women -- even as a "massive" reply was being given from the Indian side.
Jammu and Kashmir continues to remain on a flood alert as most of the rivers in the state are flowing above the danger mark.
