Due to airspace restrictions resulting from the conflict in the Middle East, Indian domestic carriers have cancelled 278 international flights. Some airlines are operating limited services and special flights to assist stranded passengers.
Security agencies went into a tizzy after three international flights originating from Mumbai received bomb threats on Monday with one of them, a New York-bound Air India aircraft, getting diverted to New Delhi as travel plans of some 500 passengers went for a toss.
With the civil unrest in Egypt showing no signs of abating, the Indian government has sent a special aircraft to fly back the hundreds of Indians stranded in the troubled country, where over a 100 protestors have been killed in the clashes with the police over the last one week.
