Security forces have intensified their efforts to flush out two militants holed up in a mosque in Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora district since Monday, police sources said on Tuesday. The two militants took shelter in the mosque at Papchan village after trading gunfire with police and security forces last night.Acting on specific information, the police force, assisted by troops of the 57 Rashtriya Rifles and 92 battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force, raided the hideout
"We have broken the back of Hizbul Mujahideen in south Kashmir. Only over the past two months, several top ranking commanders of the outfit have either been arrested or killed in operations by security forces," Inspector General of Central Reserve Police Force M S Gupta told PTI. Stressing that militancy was on the wane in Kashmir, especially in the south, Gupta said it was not prudent to reduce the number of security personnel in the valley.
The classification is based on several factors.
