A Chinese-made fast attack craft armed with missiles was inducted into the Pakistan navy on Thursday, with Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee chairman Gen Khalid Wynne saying the vessel's firepower would help strengthen the defence of the country's territorial waters.
The strategy for the next week's US visit of Islam was finalised during a high-power meeting co-chaired on Wednesday by President Asif Ali Zardari and Premier Raja Pervez Ashraf, and attended by Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar, Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Chairman Gen Khalid Wynne, army chief Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and the naval and air force chiefs.
Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Chairman Gen Khalid Shameem Wynne, who was scheduled to travel to the US on May 22, had called off his visit, unnamed military officials were quoted as saying by TV news channels. Wynne contacted his US counterpart, Admiral Mike Mullen, and informed him that the visit could not go ahead under the prevailing circumstances, the military officials were quoted as saying
