Although earlier reports indicated that five people had been detained in connection with the case, Nadia SPsaid no arrests or detention have so far been made in the case.
"PM is deeply concerned about the incidents in Hisar, Haryana and Nadia, West Bengal," the PMO tweeted.
The Centre on Monday asked the West Bengal government to send a report on the incident
The West Bengal government has decided to hand over the Rangaghat nun gang-rape case to the Central Bureau of Investigation "considering the seriousness and sensitivity of the case", West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said on Thursday.
Ranaghat sub-disional hospital superintendent A N Mondal said that the nun was taken to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata, over 64 km away, from where she left for an undisclosed destination.
The woman has pleaded to spend some more time in the hospital.
A top Catholic functionary arrived West Bengal's Ranaghat to express solidarity with the sister superior of a convent school, who was allegedly gang-raped on Saturday.
The Centre on Friday rejected West Bengal government's request for a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into the gang rape of a 71-year-old nun at a convent school in Nadia district, a day after the CID achieved a breakthrough in arresting two suspects 12 days after the heinous crime took place.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's convoy was on Monday blocked by angry protesters for nearly an hour.
'If robbery was their motive, they would have run away with the money.' 'After taking the money, they gang-raped the nun, desecrated the chapel, threw the Holy Communion, broke the statue and ran away with Mother Mary's crown.' 'We must not forget that vandalising churches and dishonouring Christians has become a regular affair in India in the past few months. This incident is a part of such destructive patterns.'
