With the BBM app coming pre-installed, users can directly engage with other BBM users without having to download the app or incurring download charges.
BBM users on Android and iPhone will now be able to make free voice calls to BBM contacts over a Wi-Fi or cellular data connection with BBM Voice, as well as access BBM Channels, a broadcast service, BlackBerry said in a statement.
The BBM Channel will be available for all BlackBerry users, iOS and Android OS platforms.
The Canadian smartphone maker in October last year launched BBM for rival Android- and iOS-based handsets and the app since then has been downloaded on over 40 million such handsets.
Canadian handset maker BlackBerry on Friday said it has narrowed its net loss for the second quarter ended August 31, 2014 to $207 million compared to the previous year helped by increased adoption of its BlackBerry Enterprises Service (BES) and handset sales.
