A student in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, allegedly committed suicide after failing his Class 12 exams. The student was found in his rented accommodation in Annadale, and police are investigating the incident.
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister P K Dhumal on Monday took up the issue of control over Shimla's Annandale grounds, on which his government is at loggerheads with the army, with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and said he would meet Defence Minister A K Antony also on the issue.
President Ram Nath Kovind will stay at a private hotel in Shimla instead of the presidential retreat where he normally stays, during his visit beginning Thursday to Himachal Pradesh, where he will address a special session of the state assembly.
