Google, a most-used Internet search engine, will begin selling animated display advertisements that appear on other Web sites, moving beyond the text advertisements currently available through its AdSense program.
In a blog post, Google said its Threat Analysis Group tracks more than 270 targeted or government-backed groups from over 50 countries. It, however, did not clarify which governments have targeted these users.
And since social media platforms benefit from it, shouldn't they too be held responsible for the hate and fake news they spread, asks Vanita Kohli-Khandekar.
