The leaders met for about 15 minutes, party sources said. However, the two were not willing to comment on the meeting.
"The RSS has always held the leadership of Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Advani in high esteem and maintained that the party needs their guidance and leadership always," the RSS said.
The J&K chief minister said it is the 'happiest day' for him since coming to power last year, as the demand of the Kashmiri people for talks at the highest level has been fulfilled.
"It is a major development from our point of view. The full implications of the development are being examined. I have spoken to the external affairs ministry in this regard," he said.
It might be effective against the BJP, but it could also go against parties in the United Progressive Alliance, Advani said.
Advani said while POTA was enacted by the Centre, its implementation is vested with state governments.
Sitaram Yechury said the party will make a detailed comment after studying the order of the special court.
'It is important for India that the world also recognises ISI as an organisation that promotes terrorism. If this does not happen the problem will remain,' he said.
Pramod Mahajan, who was supposed to lead the protests, did not turn up.
