Janta Mali, who has applied for Indian citizenship, had gone to visit her ailing mother in Pakistan's Mirpur Khas in February on an NORI visa with her husband and children, who are Indian citizens, but was not allowed to travel back after the imposition of a nationwide lockdown to curb the spread of the coronavirus as her visa expired.
The Hindus who migrated from Pakistan and settled in Rajasthan who had earlier decided to boycott the assembly cast their vote on Sunday. They had vowed to use the 'none of the above' option, introduced for the first time in Rajasthan this election season, but later changed their mind.
Most of the migrants do not get access to any medical facilities in government-run hospitals or dispensaries as they do not have an Aadhaar card and are not Indian citizens.
'All these people want is a secure home where they can live and earn in peace.'
