The recall will impact different batches of Figo and Classic models manufactured between January 2010 and June 2012.
In one of biggest ever such exercises in the country, Ford India on Monday said it has recalled over 1.28 units of its best selling Figo and Classic cars to rectify problems related to steering and rear suspension.
The company will also check the reorienting wiring harness related to the correct deployment of side airbags in the recalled vehicles.
As part of the new Central Motor Vehicle Rules, the government is framing a mandatory recall policy entailing penalties.
