An Air India Boeing 777 flight carrying 313 people on board returned to Newark airport in New Jersey, US, soon after take off following a bird hit that damaged its left engine.
The Boeing 747-400 flights from New York via London-Delhi (AI 112) and New Jersey via Paris (AI 144) have been delayed and will now land on Saturday afternoon.
Taking its crew to task for lack of discipline, Air India on Wednesday suspended a pilot and ten cabin crew members for delaying some recent flights, including an international service, by not reporting for duty on time.
Air-India flights between India and the US have been delayed by nearly 24 hours.
