Bopanna's was the only remaining singles first round match to be played on the second day, which witnessed the completion of the doubles first round clashes.

The day's lone upset came from veteran Sandeep Kirtane and Purav Raja who ousted second seed Kamala Kannan and Vijey Sundar Prasanth 7-6 (1), 6-2.

Wild card teenagers Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan and Sanam Singh advanced with a 6-2, 6-4 verdict over Wrik Ganguly and Divyanshu Singh.

In the women's section, third seeds Geeta Manohar and Archana Venkataraman overcame Anupama and Chirashanthi Rajurs 6-3, 7-6 (2) but second seeds Sanaa Bhambri and Sandhya Nagaraj had it easy, 6-0, 6-0 against Asha Nandakumar and Oormila Ram.

Top seeds Rushmi Chakravarthy and Punam Reddy had a bye.

Vivek Shokeen will play Karan Rastogi while Divij Sharan takes on the wily Vijay Kannan in some of the keenly awaited second round matches on Wednesday.
