Twenty-seven-year old Jora Singh (BSF) became the first Indian to log 7502 points as he created a new National record in Decathlon while Orissa's Anuradha Biswal set a meet record in 100m hurdles in the 12th Federation Cup National Athletics championship at New Delhi on Thursday.

Jora Singh, who set up a meet record last year with 7120 points, erased Kulwinder Singh's national mark of 7325 points this evening.

With this showing, Jora Singh staked his claim for a berth in the squad for the Commonwealth Games.

Earlier, Orissa girl Anuradha Biswal improved upon her own meet record in the 100m hurdles. She clocked 133.48 secs to win the gold in this event. The earlier meet record was 1.57 sec.

Biswal, however, failed to better her own national record of 13.38 sec, which she set way back in 2002.

In a high profile men's long jump event, Punjab Police's Amritpal Singh gave a below-par performance as he cleared 7.68m to claim the gold. His nearest rival Maha Singh jumped to 7.65m for a silver.

Amritpal's best is 8.08m, which is also the National record.

Maharashtra's Megha Pardeshi won women's Javelin throw event with an effort of 50.25, which was far behind the National record (58.64) and meet record (55.88) both created by Gurmeet Kaur.
