Two rockets fell in Baghdad's Green Zone on Thursday, Sputnik reported citing local media.

However, Iraq's security services said that there have been no injuries in the rocket fire.

Green Zone of the Iraqi capital houses government agencies and foreign embassies.

The new attack comes after Iran fired a number of missiles at two Iraqi bases housing United States troops Wednesday local time in retaliation for the American strike that killed military general Qassem Soleimani last week in a Pentagon-ordered airstrike near Baghdad International Airport.

Late on Wednesday, a source in the Iraqi security services was quoted as saying by Sputnik that two rockets had fallen in the Green Zone in Baghdad.

'Two Katyusha rockets fell in the Green Zone, no people were injured,' the security services' press service wrote on the Twitter page on late on Wednesday.
