Vehicular movement in some parts of New Delhi was affected for the second day on Tuesday due to water-logging, a spill-over effect of last evening's heavy rains.

Traffic snarls were reported from Dhaula Kuan, Maharani Bagh, Saket, and Lado Sarai. Vehicular movement was obstructed on the Ring Road towards IP flyover and near Shakarpur due to waterlogging, a senior police official said.

Water-logging near the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium also led to traffic jam in the area. In another case, an uprooted tree near Harsh Vihar Chowk in Pitampura resulted in a traffic jam in the area.

near South Extension, AIIMS, Lajpat Nagar and Moolchand was affected after a container truck broke down in the middle of the Ashram flyover. The flyover is choc-a-bloc with vehicles, the official said. The city received 0.2 mm of rains for a period of 12 hours ending 8:30 am today.

Heavy rains, which lashed the city for about 90 minutes last evening measuring 51.4 mm, threw the traffic out of gear. Rains also led to a dip in temperature. The minimum temperature in the city was 23.2 degree Celsius, four degrees below normal.

At least 11 people, including two women and three children, were killed in rain-related incidents yesterday.
