Nitish Kumar elected head of NDA legislature party

A day after his landslide victory in the Bihar assembly polls, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was on Thursday elected as the leader of the National Democratic Alliance legislature party in the 15th Bihar assembly.

The NDA leaders will now hand over letters of support of the Members of Legislative Assembly of the the Janata Dal-United and its ally the Bharatiya Janata Party and stake claim to form a government in the state.

The Bihar CM was also unanimously elected as the leader of the JD-U legislature party and his deputy Sushil Kumar Modi was elected leader of the BJP legislature party. Nitish Kumar's selection was done at a meeting of the newly-elected party legislators.

Nitish Kumar will take oath as the chief minister of Bihar on Friday for the second time. Sources close to Nitish Kumar said that a ministry of 35 members including 200 from JD-U quota and 15 from BJP quota, would be sworn in on Friday.

The NDA swept the Bihar assembly polls with JD-U winning 115 seats and BJP winning 91 in 243 members house.
