Bharatiya Janata Party General Secretary Pramod Mahajan was on Saturday injured after a close relative shot at him at his residence in Worli in central Mumbai, police said.
Mahajan received bullet injuries in his stomach and chest and was rushed to Hinduja Hospital where he is being operated upon, police added. The assailant has surrendered before the police.
Police said the person, who shot at him, claimed to be his brother Pravin Mahajan, a resident of neighbouring Thane district had come to meet Mahajan.

Ex-BJP chief L K Advani is rushing to Mumbai to enquire about Mahajan's health. Advani is leaving his Bharat Suraksha Yatra midway for the visit. A decision about whether or not the yatra is to be continued will depend upon Mahajan's health, a senior BJP leader told rediff.com.
BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi would join Advani in Mumbai. Party president Rajnath Singh is also expected tp reach Mumbai either tonight or tomorrow morning.
BJP leader B K Malhotra said ex-prime minister Atal Behari Vajpayee is suffering from an acute back pain and may not be able to visit Mahajn inspite of his concern.
