Describing his tenure in Goa as a "learning experience", outgoing Governor B V Wanchoo has said that the coastal state would always hold a special place in his heart.

"I had the most wonderful time in this beautiful, peaceful and lovely state of Goa, a tenure that was eventful and packed with a variety of enriching and unique experiences.

It was also for me personally a learning experience," Wanchoo said in his valedictory press statement released here, the copy of which is with PTI.

Wanchoo had resigned on Friday, a day after CBI quizzed him in VVIP chopper deal case. He was appointed in Goa on May 4, 2012.

The outgoing Governor also thanked state Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar for his "whole-hearted support and cooperation".

"I would like to place on record my special thanks and gratitude to Manohar Parrikar, chief minister, members of his cabinet, all the elected leaders and the state bureaucracy for their whole-hearted support, cooperation and affection which enabled me to perform my duties to the best of my ability, with honesty of purpose and keeping the overall good of all fellow citizens of Goa in mind," he said.

Wanchoo said, "Goa will have a special place in his heart and will always pray for the welfare and betterment of each and every citizen of this unique and beautiful state."

"I will always continue to cherish with a profound sense of belonging, some very special people whom I got to know from close quarters and sweet and unfading memories connected with them during my stay in Goa," he added.
