Reel-life drama spilled over to real life in Delhi when a Congress leader played villain in the marriage of his friend's younger brother.

Congress district general secretary Sunil landed in jail along with his friend Rajkumar on charges of attempt to murder, after they allegedly set a woman on fire, police said.

Rajkumar's brother Khyali Singh wanted to marry a girl of his choice ignoring his family's objections. On Tuesday, he tied the nuptial knot at an Arya Samaj temple in east Delhi, police said.

Enraged, Rajkumar along with Sunil and another friend Kamal on Tuesday rushed to the house of Khyali's friend Sanjeev in Azad Nagar as he had reportedly helped with the marriage, police said.

Not finding him, the trio allegedly set Sanjeev's mother Geeta on fire after pouring kerosene on her.

Geeta was admitted to the Jai Prakash Narayan hospital with 45 per cent burns.

A case was registered at the Krishna Nagar police station. Rajkumar and Sunil have been arrested, police said adding efforts are on to nab Kamal, who is absconding.
