L K Advani's resignation as the Bharatiya Janata Party president is not on the agenda of the three-day national convention of the party later this month, party General Secretary Pramod Mahajan said in Mumbai on Wednesday.
"This convention is a celebration of 25 years of the BJP. There will not be anybody's resignation or coronation at the convention," he told reporters, responding to questions on Advani's statement that he would resign after December 28-30 convention in Mumbai.
On the Uma Bharti issue, Mahajan said it was finished as far as the party was concerned. He, however, added that lack of discipline is a matter of concern for the party.
Asked if the convention would discuss the issue of collective leadership, Mahajan said, "Wait till you see our political resolutions. I do not want to comment on it."
He said no leader of Shiv Sena, BJP's oldest alliance partner, was being invited for the convention.
"This time, it is different," Mahajan said. when it was pointed out that during the party's 1995 convention Sena chief Bal Thackeray had been invited.
The BJP leader said, "Since its birth on April 6, 1980, at Delhi, the party has come a long way in these 25 years. The first national convention of the party was also held at Mumbai and it is appropriate that the silver jubilee convention is also held here."
