Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has greeted Barack Obama on his election as America's 44th President and expressed hope that bilateral relations between India and US would strengthen further.

In a letter, Dr Singh invited Obama and his wife Michelle to visit India.
The letter focused on the multi-faceted relationship that is anchored in the common values of democracy, pluralism and respect for diversity shared by the two countries.
The prime minister said the people of India join him in sending their best wishes.
