The bodies of four army personnel, including an officer, were recovered on Wednesday, taking the death toll due to the avalanche to six in Jammu and Kashmir [Images]. Four persons were still missing in Gurez sector of Bandipora district along the Line of Control [Images], defence sources said.

Army's rescue-cum-search teams have recovered the bodies of three jawans and an officer from the site of the snow avalanche in Gurez sector, the sources said.

The bodies of two jawans had been recovered earlier.

The incident occurred on Monday when a seven-member army team had gone there to search for three porters, who went missing a day before.

A Lieutenant and three porters were still missing and are feared dead.

The patrol consisting of two officers and five men went missing after they were hit by an avalanche near their area of deployment in Kanjarwan near Nani post in Jammu and Kashmir, sources said.

The Army is continuing its search and rescue operations in the area to find the missing personnel.
