Pranab to head all-party delegation to Jammu

An all-party delegation will visit Jammu on Saturday to find ways to resolve the dispute over transfer of land to the Amarnath Shrine Board.

The suggestion for sending an all-party delegation was made at a meeting of leaders of over 35 political parties convened by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [Images] in New Delhi [Images] on Wednesday to hammer out a solution to the vexed issue.

Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil [Images] had a meeting with External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Thursday and the duo discussed the different suggestions made at the four-hour all-party meeting.

Cabinet Secretary K M Chandrasekhar and Union Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta were also present when the two ministers met for nearly 30 minutes.

The Home Ministry has sent an invitation to political parties to join the all-party delegation to visit Jammu for a dialogue with the agitators.
