Bharatiya Janata Party leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has said that his party is ready for elections in Gujarat at any point of time.

Naqvi was commenting on information from the Election Commission that the elections for the new Assembly may be held in four phases.

Speaking to rediff.com on Wednesday, Naqvi said there was no division in the party.

"I thought that the commission was planning to hold three-phase elections. Even if EC holds four-phase elections, it makes no difference. We are going to win the elections anyway," he said.

According to sources in the EC, four-phased elections may be held from December 10 to 20 and a formal announcement about the elections may be made in the first week of next month.

When contacted, officials of EC said that we should await a formal announcement.
