3 militants, woman killed in encounter in J&K

Three militants and a woman were killed and two army jawans injured in an encounter in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir [Images], a defence spokesperson said in Srinagar [Images] Friday.

Acting on specific information, troops of 5 Jat Battalion and 13 Rashtriya Rifles Thursday night cordoned off Chakiban area near Bandipora, 55 km from Srinagar.

The militants opened fire on the troops and in the ensuing gunfight, three ultras were killed and two army jawans injured.

One Sara Begum, apparently caught in the crossfire, was also killed, the spokesman added.
