The Jammu and Kashmir [Images] police on Saturday morning recovered the body of a Taiwanese tourist, who was missing since March 22.

The police said a few locals found the body of 52-year-old Huang Sui Chin floating in Srinagar's [Images] Nageen Lake.

The body was taken to the police control room where the victim's daughter, who arrived in Srinagar early in the morning, identified a surgical mark on the body, confirming the identity.

The body has been sent for autopsy, but a senior police officer said there were 'no visible external marks that may lead us to cause of death'.

"Chin had checked into a houseboat in Dal Lake and had told the houseboat owner that she was going to send a message to her family about her safe arrival," said a police officer.

The police and security forces had launched a massive search operation to trace her.

Officials fear the mysterious death may jolt the expected record arrival of tourists this year in Kashmir.

The state government has been making extensive efforts to woo tourists to the valley.
