A 24-year-old girl in Chennai has made an entry into the Guinness Book of World Records for floating on water for 54 hours and 27 minutes on August 13.

The previous best was by Shanmugham of Chennai in 1987, who clocked 51 hours and 10 minutes.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, S Thajoomi, a human resources executive in a private firm, said she would undergo some more practice and strive to better her own record in 2007.

Showing the certificates to reporters, Thajoomi said she was coached by A Anbalagan.

She thanked the city corporation authorities for allotting a specified time for women to practise in the swimming pool on the Marina.
