Two killed as militants attack mourners

Two persons were killed and 15 others injured when militants lobbed a grenade and then opened fire on mourners assembled at the fourth day ceremony of Abdul Gain Bhat, brother of former divisional commander of Hizbul Mujahideen and president of Salvation Movement, official sources said.

The attack took place at around 1430 IST at Bhat's residence. Bhat was shot dead by ultras on Saturday.

Seventeen people were injured in the blast and the firing that followed. Two persons -- Mirza Aslam Beg and Imtiaz Mohiudeen Dar -- succumbed to their injuries at a hospital, police sources said.

Among the injured were former divisional commander of Hizb, Mohammad Akbar Bhat alias Zafar Abdul Fateh and his brother.
