In a significant decision, United Arab Emirates government has revoked the ban on re-entry into the country that expatriates automatically incurred if they left their job or cancelled their residence visas.

The new rule would come into force from Tuesday, Lieutenant Colonel Rashid Al Khidhar, legal advisor of the General Directorate of Naturalisation and Residence at UAE's Interior Ministry told the Gulf News.

Till now, the workers from foreign countries who get a ban from the Labour Ministry would also get a ban from the immigration authorities on re-entry into the country during the ban period.

Now a worker who gets banned by the Labour ministry can enter the country on any kind of visa other than a work related one, Lt Col Khalid said.
