Woman, daughter held for Hizbul links

September 11, 2004 11:00 IST

Security forces have taken into custody a woman and her daughter for their alleged links with Hizbul Mujaheedin at Banihal tehsil of Doda district in Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said on Saturday.

The security forces took 40-year-old Shama Begum and her 17-year-old daughter Parveen into custody after they intercepted a wireless transmission on September 7 in which Parveen, who was travelling in a vehicle along with her mother, was found talking with a Hizbul commander.

She was talking about the escape of a militant and the questioning of her mother by troops in this regard, they said.

Both have been handed over to police for further investigation.
