752 STF personnel get promotions

The Tamil Nadu government on Tuesday decided to give promotions to all the 752 STF personnel whose efforts led to the killing of Veerappan and three of his associates in Papparapatti village in Dharmapuri district.

Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa also announced a cash reward of Rs 3 lakh to each of the personnel involved in 'Operation Cocoon'.

Additionally, each of them will also be given a plot of land of their choice, she said.

With this announcement, the chief of the combined STF and the man who led the team, K Vijaykumar, now an additional director general of police, will be promoted to the rank of DGP.
