Two militants hiding in a mosque in Wohgund village in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir for close to 30 hours were killed late Thursday afternoon by Border Security Force jawans.

The militants had entered the mosque during a BSF raid on Wednesday afternoon after killing a jawan. One of their associates was killed before he could make it to the mosque.

The duo engaged the BSF jawans for two days by firing intermittently from the Hazrat Syed Najab-ud-din Bukhari shrine.

While the upper portion of the mosque, where the militants initially took refuge fleeing from the raiding BSF men, was completely damaged, the nearby shrine of Hazrat Syed Najb-ud-din Bukhari, where the ultras shifted to this morning,
suffered minor damage in the gunbattle, BSF Deputy Inspector General K Srinivasan said.
