Two militant outfits claim responsibility for Parray's killing

September 13, 2003 20:41 IST

Two militant outfits – Al Nasiree and Kashmir Freedom Force – on Saturday claimed responsibility for the killing Mohammad Yousuf Parray alias Kuka Parray at Hajan in north Kashmir's Baramulla district.

The two outfits, in separate calls to a Srinagar journalist, claimed responsibility for the attack.

An estimated 600 people attended the funeral of Parray, who shot into the limelight in 1995 when he abjured the path of violence and formed a counter-insurgent group called Ikhwan.

Parray was on the hit list of militants ever since he joined the mainstream.
