October 03, 2003 19:52 IST

Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on Friday said India needs 'determination and will' for faster technological development to cope with the changes taking place at the international level.

"There is fierce competition among the nations....changes are taking place in India, but they have to be accelerated. There is no dearth of money or talent in India, but of determination and will," Vajpayee said.

He was inaugurating the second phase -- Trinagar to Tis Hazari -- of Delhi Metro.

In December 2002, Vajpayee had inaugurated the first phase of Delhi Metro.

Union ministers Sahib Singh Verma and Bandaru Dattatreya, Delhi's Lt Governor Vijai Kapoor, Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit, Delhi Metro Chairman Madan Lal Khurana and Delhi's Transport Minister Ajay Maken were among those present on the occasion.
