Ultras slit throats of two abducted cops

March 17, 2003 22:22 IST

Terrorists have slit the throats of two of the four policemen abducted after the attack on a police post in Udhampur on Sunday.

The bodies of head constable Nissar Ahmed and special police officer Sheer Mohammed were recovered from Snub Nullah, near the site of attack, on Monday, a police spokesman said.

The other two -- constable Manzoor Ahmed and special police officer Jan Mohammad -- reported back on Sunday night at a security picket in Gool area after escaping from the captivity of the terrorists, the spokesman said.

Eleven people, including nine policemen, were killed in the attack on Sunday.

Meanwhile, militants on Monday afternoon gunned down two Sikh villagers including a driver of police vehicle after they were abducted near village Pohru in the south Kashmir Pulwama district.

Police identified the two victims as Harbans Singh and Dara Singh, a driver posted in Budgam district police.

The police recovered the bodies of Barbans and Dara Singh from Pohru village on the outskirts of Jammu.

An outfit calling themselves as the Tehrikul Mujaheedin has claimed responsibility for the killing.
