Bhopal Express gets ISO 9001-2000 certificate

January 24, 2003 18:23 IST

Bhopal Express, the prestigious superfast train running between Habibganj (in Bhopal) and Hazrat Nizamuddin (in Delhi), has become the first in the country to get the ISO 9001-2000 certification.

It will now be renamed as the Shaan-e-Bhopal Express, Central Railways General Manager Surya Pal Singh told reporters at Habibganj station in Bhopal on Thursday evening after Madhya Pradesh Governor Bhai Mahavir specially flagged off the train at a function to mark the achievement.

The train, which was introduced three years back, has been chosen for the certificate by the Norwegian firm KVQA after a survey of 100 trains in India, Singh said.

The certificate imposes a lot more responsibility on the Central Railway to maintain the quality of services on the train, he added.

A coffee vending machine has already been provided in the compartments and, in due course, a charger would be provided (for cell phone users) on the train, Singh said.
