British envoy meets the Mufti

January 15, 2003 14:39 IST

The British High Commissioner in India, Rob Young, met Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed in Jammu on Tuesday evening.

The Mufti apprised the envoy about the steps being taken by his government to restore peace in the state, besides providing healing touch to the victims of terrorism, an official spokesman said on Wednesday.

The continuing killings by terrorists, who were mostly sent from Pakistan, also came up for discussion.

The envoy condemned such acts of terrorism, the spokesman said.

Earlier, the envoy had also called on Governor Girish Chandra Saxena at Raj Bhavan.

Discussions were held on areas of economic development, the spokesman said.
